For the record, I like him. 'Course he grew up in Indiana, so that could bias me. But I think he's a good choice nontheless. The cynic in me can't help but think that if they were going to try to get a less palatable person in, they would have first nominated a crazed wacko and let people get all frothy about that and then, compared to the wacko, their next nominee might be accepted just because he wasn't the wacko. Or was less crazy than the wacko. since they didn't take that approach, that leads me to believe that this guy would actually be a good thing for the Court. And well, he's got a really smart lawyer wife and two cute adoptable kids...no skeletons in the closet that are obvious...
